Bake It or Make It” Sale

Come and enjoy the “Bake It or Make It” sale at the October 8 meeting. And then be prepared to “Take It Home” to enjoy. Bring your baked goods and items to sell by 11:15 a.m. Do you have peppers, tomatoes, squash or other garden goodies? Did you preserve jellies or canned fruits or pickles this fall? How about Halloween crafts and treats? Anyone handy with yarn or craft items? Cash donations are also welcome. All proceeds will be used for Teacher Grants. Be sure to come early if you are bringing items to sell!

Boscov Passes

Once again, Boscov’s is sponsoring a community day, Friends HELPING Friends, for one day, Tuesday, October 22, 2024. For a donation of $5 you will receive a shopping pass worth 25 percent off the lowest price of items. One hundred percent of your $5 donation will go to TRTA. You can get your pass at TRTA’s August luncheon or even preorder.  Many are choosing to make a donation to TRTA and buy extra passes to share with their friends!  The donations from the sale of the shopping passes will fund Teacher Grants. Thanks, Boscov, and thank YOU for donating!!!

How can I get a pass?

1. Mark the number of passes you want on the luncheon reservation form in the newsletter. You can include the pass purchase with your luncheon check.

a. If you are attending the August luncheon, you can pick them up at the luncheon.

b. If you are NOT attending the luncheon, your tickets can be mailed to you or you can pick them up at the October meeting.

Investing in Our Future

In 2019 TRTA joined the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. Since we are not a 501(c)(3) organization, this allows donations to our endowed scholarship fund to be tax deductible, depending on your tax situation. It also allows us to invest our money and create a legacy that will outlive us all. The goal is to have at least $25,000 in our endowment account. Depending on investment returns, we hope to give in perpetuity a $1,000 scholarship annually from this fund. As the fund grows, we hope to award more and greater scholarships.

The Foundation has resources far beyond our organization. They administer the scholarships for many organizations in our Valley. They advertise our scholarship, gather the applications and assist our scholarship committee in selecting the awardees. The Foundation also disseminates the monies to the awardees’ schools.

Please note that our Teacher Grant program is not funded by scholarship donations; a separate account funds this program. On our website home page, you will find links for donating directly to either of these funds. Contributions will continue to be accepted for both programs with your luncheon reservations, as well as checks made payable to TRTA; please specify your intentions on the check memo line.
