A+Teachers
TRTA, The Tribune Chronicle, Covelli Enterprises, Trumbull County Educational Service Center, and Outback Steakhouse jointly sponsoring the A+ Teachers award given annually in May. Nominations are accepted from students, former students, parents and co-workers explaining why their favorite educators deserve to be recognized as an A+ Teacher. Each teacher must be a K-12 educator in a public, private, or parochial setting in Trumbull County. Over 600 applications are received annually. Ten teachers are selected and recognized for their extraordinary work. They are honored in the Tribune Chronicle as well as at dinner at Outback Steakhouse and a luncheon with TRTA.

A total of 650 nominating letters were received for the A+ Teacher Awards.

Diana Bauman, former president of Trumbull Retired Teachers Association, said, “Teachers go above and beyond every day, not only with teaching academics but in reaching out to students to encourage their successes. The high esteem in which many students hold their teachers is a tribute to the impact that they have on their students and their lives. All teachers need to know that their efforts are appreciated and recognized,” Bauman said.
Sue Shafer, community events coordinator for the Tribune Chronicle, said, “Reading the student-written nomination letters is so heart-warming. From a few sentences to a two-page computer-generated essay, the nominations talk about not only the subject matter the educator teaches, but how they made the student feel valued.” And students are learning.
