Community Service
TRTA is an integral part of our community. We sponsor a variety of service projects throughout the year. There is a project for everyone! Some of our activities included a clothing and coat drive which benefited the Warren Family Mission, painted a Habitat for Humanity house in Warren and donated money for supplies and lunch for workers, collected toiletries for Someplace Safe, sent greeting cards to our nation's veterans, donated money to the Second Harvest Food bank as well as packaged food there, donated coloring books, crayons, and picture books for the children at Akron Children's Hospital, Boardman, and contributed items for the treat bags given to spelling bee participants at the Trumbull County Fair. In addition, TRTA members judge the 4-H booths at the fair.
Collected at each meeting are eyeglasses and hearing aids. Eyeglasses are donated to Roberts-Clark Funeral, Warren, Ohio and the Lion's Club. Hearing aids and accessories are donated to the Audiology and Hearing Associates, Inc., in Howland. They are sent to an organization that may use them for parts; if they are in good condition, they are refurbished and sent to areas like Guatemala or other countries as hearing aids for children.

In 2024 during our week of service at Second Harvest Food Bank we filled576 bags of oranges and 2610 boxes for senior citizens.

In 2023 26 members turned in volunteer hours totaling 8,760 hours. Diana Bauman volunteered the most hours!

Projects

February- Please bring your donations of forks and spoons to our February meeting. They can be bags of plastic or “real” silverware. These will be helpful for the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley. It will be an ongoing collection. Whenever you run across a deal or are getting rid of old silverware, bring it to a meeting. Remember: NO KNIVES. Prior to the luncheon, we’ll be filling care bags for the children who come to the Mission with their families as new clients. At our tables in February we’ll have Thinking of You cards for the Hope Center for Cancer Care for you to sign. If you have suggestions for Community Services, please let me know.
